Philosophy is a Wikia that aims at providing detailed information of philosophies and philosophers of all periods and regions. It strongly encourages discussion on the talk pages as well the publishing of commentaries and summaries, though original work should be published on other sites, either of private means or using the Academic Publishing Wiki. (Note: This is a wiki, so everyone can edit your pages.)

As a Wikia, Philosophy is one of many that make up Wikia, each serving a different interest group. Each Wikia is a wiki, a freely editable website. Anyone can edit Religion-wiki, and its free content is created with the MediaWiki software. It is hosted for free by Wikia, the company which runs the project. Anyone is free to start a new Wikia in accordance with the Wikia creation policy and terms of use.

Wikia was founded by Angela Beesley and Jimmy Wales in October 2003.

Philosophy was founded on 1 July 2005 by Holger Burghardt.
